Ads are provided by Google, Amazon, Facebook, and other large ad companies. In general, the ads they show are based on the web browsing history on your device and/or within your household and pre-defined categories that each advertiser has placed their ads into.

We have rather strict settings in place to prevent mature content. However, there are occasions when certain ads slip through (especially if the advertiser has placed them under a seemingly innocent category).
